They are usually heat-bonded or glued at the base with a bit of lash adhesive and can have thick square bases that do not wrap around the natural lash properly, leading to poor retention.

Pro-made lash fans are similar to handmade fans in that they are created by professional lash artists. However, instead of being made and applied during the appointment, pro-made fans are pre-made and stored for later use. The same process is used with handmade fans, including fanning out the extensions, dipping them into the adhesive, and curing the adhesive using a crystallising technique.
